Booked Your Late Deal Package Holidays, Research The Resort In 1 Hour On-Line

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

If you are anything like me, you wait for the last minute cheap flights or package holiday deals.

Problem is they usually fly out the next day or the day after.

I tend to go 1 week 3 times a year so to make the most of it I need to research the location so I know what my plans are e.g. water parks, best beaches, car hire, scooter hire, bars etc, You get the drift.

Unfortunately if you go to google and type in Los Cristianos car hire, you get Results 1 – 10 of about 216,000, wow that a lot of pages to view.

Fortunately there is a quicker way, let me explain.

Do you ever look at the top of the web page when you are online? If you go to www.google.co.uk and look at the top of the page you will see Google – Mozilla Firefox or whatever browser you are using, the important part is everything before the ‘-’ that would be google.

This is called the page title and web site owners tend to name them after the page content.

So how can this benefit me you ask, well let me tell you.

In the google search box you can use a command intitle: so if you are looking for car hire in Spain you could type intitle:spain car hire in the google search box, this will only bring up pages with Spain car hire in the title cutting down the amount of pages returned.

Well that’s the theory in reality you would refine your search much more depending on how many pages came back on the google search results at the top right of the page.

Here is an example; I chose 3 resorts in Tenerife so I could find things close to a resort.

Los Cristianos car hire Results 1 – 10 of about 216,000
intitle:Los Cristianos car hire Results 1 – 10 of about 16,000
intitle:”Los Cristianos car hire” Results 1 – 10 of about 327

Playa de las Americas water Results 1 – 10 of about 412,000
intitle:Playa de las Americas water Results 1 – 10 of about 17,700
intitle:”Playa de las Americas water” Results 1 – 1 of 1

Puerto de la Cruz Beach Results 1 – 10 of about 2,260,000
intitle:Puerto de la Cruz Beach Results 1 – 10 of about 54,100
intitle:”Puerto de la Cruz Beach” Results 1 – 9 of about 11

Santa Cruz de Tenerife sites Results 1 – 10 of about 307,000
intitle:Santa Cruz de Tenerife sites Results 1 – 10 of about 37,400
intitle:”Santa Cruz de Tenerife sites” Results 1 – 3 of 3

If you look I have done 3 searches for each key phrase:

1. This is the key phrase on its own and the amount of google pages returned.
2. Looking for web pages containing all or most of the words in the page title.
3. Looking for web pages that contain all the words.

I’m sure you will agree that in each search the number 3 search will be the best option, you have just cut down the pages you needed to research to 341 pages.

There will be the case from time to time when the number 3 search will display no results, if this happens all you do is remove the quotes so the number 3 search phrase now looks like the number 2 key phrase.

That’s how I research my holidays at short notice, I hope you benefit from this guide also.

Keepsake Christmas Album

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Do you hate throwing your Christmas cards away every year as much as I do? This year I decided to try to come up with some way to preserve our Christmas cards, as well as find a way to organize all the Christmas letters I’ve been faithfully filing away for the past six years. I decided to make an album for our Christmas letters using decoupage to decorate the covers with this year’s Christmas cards.

I love decoupage. It’s so easy to do and so versatile. It’s really hard to get it wrong. I started by finding something to paste the Christmas cards on. I had some dark red card stock (next to the paper at the office supply store) that seemed heavy enough to withstand all the gluing. Next I cut our Christmas cards into all different shapes and sizes. I cut out little characters, scenes, holiday greetings, and even signatures of loved ones who had sent the cards. I next arranged the cutouts, overlapping one another, on the card stock, and started applying them one by one with the decoupage finish.

There are several kinds of decoupage finish available. You can find a variety at your local craft store. I have two different kinds: Plaid Royal Coat Antique Decoupage Finish, and Mod Podge Gloss-Lustre. The first one gives an antique-like appearance. The paste yellows when it dries, making your collage look aged. The more you apply, the yellower it gets. The Mod Podge dries clear. I used the antique finish and was quite happy with the result. You use the finish to actually glue the individual pieces on with a paintbrush, and then when you’re finished (adding scraps here and there to fill in the blank spots), you brush a coat over the entire page. After it dries for about 10 minutes, you can apply another coat. I found that adding several coats made the pages sturdier-more like a album cover, like I wanted. I had just enough Christmas card cutouts to cover two pages, one for the front cover, and one for the back cover.

After the pages were dry, I used a three-hole punch to punch holes in the covers. I decided I would use wide fabric holiday ribbon to tie the covers together. That way every year I could untie the bows and add new letters to my album. I used 2 1/2 -inch-wide wire satin ribbon (dark red). I liked the wire ribbon. It was easier to adjust the bows and looked really nice. It was also leftover from my holiday gift making this year, so I didn’t have to buy any extra.

When the covers were ready, I arranged our Christmas letters from oldest to most recent, and punched holes in all of them. I then placed them between the covers and inserted the ribbon through the holes and tied big red bows to hold them together. I chose not to string ribbon through all three holes-just the top and the bottom.

I was really happy with how my keepsake Christmas album turned out. It was easy, took only about two hours to make, and I didn’t have to buy anything extra to make it. After you buy the decoupage finish (about $5 a bottle), the uses for it are almost limitless. You can apply it to almost any surface, giving you the opportunity to create timeless keepsakes in a variety of ways.

Spa Vacations: Why So Popular?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Can you imagine a universe in which you are the center of attention? You laze about for the entire day without a care in the world. In fact, the only thing that you have to think about is whether or not you want to get a facial or a massage. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions.

And if this doesn’t sound like enough paradise in itself, imagine this: When you do care to open your eyes, you are met with the exquisite beauty of your surroundings. Towering, majestic red rocks and desert mesas meet your every gaze, or maybe it is snow-capped peaks, or maybe, just maybe, the deep blue waters of the Caribbean.

Are you tempted yet? If not, maybe you just need to do a little more research into spa vacations. The truth is that spa vacations are a favorite among singles, couples and families wanting to get away from it all. And spa vacations are so versatile that almost anyone can find a vacation package worth drooling over.

The popularity of spa vacations has led to the emergence of luxury spas in almost every imagined spot on the planet. And if wasting away for days in a remote location doesn’t appeal to everybody, it is possible to combine short spa stays of only a few hours or a couple of days into a regular vacation.

As touched upon earlier, the popularity of spa vacations has to do primarily with their versatility. Granted, everyone in this stressful hectic world in which we live needs a little bit of rest and relaxation. But we also belong to a society that likes to have things on their own terms. Spa vacations meet this end perfectly by offering a variety of locations, pampering services and time commitments. With a spa vacation it’s quite possible to take only one day off for a little rest and relaxation or jet around the world and get lost for weeks.

Another thing that makes spa vacations so popular is that they are relaxing, extremely relaxing. There’s just something about a full-hour massage that will turn even the biggest stress bag into a mushy, contended bag of loose muscle and bone.

So, what kind of things does a spa vacation package include? Here are just a few of the perks:

* Massage – There are many different massage techniques offered at spas. Some of the most popular include Swedish, Thai, and Ayurvedic treatments.

* Body treatments – Many spas offer body wraps and scrubs that are unique to the area. For example: A spa located near the sea might offer their own unique salt-scrub treatment formulated from the surrounding waters.

* Facials – Facials are just one of the many beautifying services offered at spas. There are also exfoliating services and an esthetician on site.

* Visual stimulation – Picturesque always, spas captivate the mind and remove it far from the rigors of everyday life.

In addition to attracting the weary and downtrodden, spas offer a unique opportunity to pamper loved ones. For this reason, gift certificates and gift vacations to the world’s most famous spas are extremely popular.

Spa vacations can also be therapeutic. In fact, many people with physical conditions and limitations benefit from a stay at a spa. There are also spa vacations geared toward helping people get a jump start on losing weight.

Is it any wonder that spa vacations are so popular? With all of these options and pampering activities to choose from, the only thing to wonder about is when and where.

Holiday Expectations

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

As always, when this time of the year comes around, I am amazed at how fast another year has gone by. It’s also the time of year when I make an extra effort to be aware of the energy and attitude I am carrying with me as I am out and about doing everything I need to do to prepare for the holidays. By doing this, it helps keep my stress level down and makes each day flow more easily and effortlessly.

I invite you to do the same for yourself. Notice if there are any emotional patterns that show up for you at this time of the year that tend to create more stress in your life. Are you focusing on anticipating the worst with shopping, crowds, traffic, visits with relatives?

Whatever it may be for you give yourself a break by having a different outlook toward this holiday year than past. Take as many deep breaths as need be throughout each and every day and allow yourself to relax into all that you need to do and all that is happening around you. Know in your heart everything will get done that needs to get done and as you give up the urge to control the circumstances around you that you can’t control, the more you will see things getting done with ease. It’s an opportunity to practice your patience and willingness to go with the flow. Put a smile on your face even if you have to force it at first. A smile not only lifts you emotionally it effects everyone around you, ultimately effecting how things show up for you.

Instead of remembering all the times you’ve been with certain relatives that were less than joyful, create a new picture for yourself. Imagine spending a pleasant time with this person. Be open to the possibilities of it being different because you’re willing to be different. Remember, it starts with you. They are who they are and all you can control your own emotions.

Oh, I know, I know. I can hear you now. “But you don’t know my Uncle Horace, he makes the holidays miserable for everyone.” Uncle Horace may be the scrooge of the party but that doesn’t mean you have to fall prey to his energy and let it ruin your holiday. Again, you are always at choice and you get to manage your emotions as you choose. Not Uncle Horace! If need be, spend more time with those in the room you feel more joy toward and as you do this, it is not the time to talk about everything that’s wrong with Uncle Horace. But most importantly, start holding a different vision now for your upcoming visits.

Are you worried about not having enough money to buy the gifts you want to buy? Stop. Gifts are great but we all know a gift from the heart is not always about something expensive. The most wonderful gift I received last year was from a relative who spent $2.49 on me. He bought me a beautiful card and in it wrote all the things he appreciated about me. It touched me in a way that is hard to put into words. That gift was worth it’s weight in gold to me and a year later it still brings tears to my eyes when I think about it. Release yourself from the pressure of buying something more than you can afford and if you’re not able to let go of that ask yourself what’s really beneath that belief and be willing to take an action that starts busting through such a limiting belief.

So as you find yourself standing in long lines, dealing with crowded malls, sitting in traffic or anticipating being with certain relatives, do your best to hold an awareness of how you’re managing your energy and thoughts. If it’s not for your highest good take some deep breaths in and out holding a thought that feels a little bit better. Close your eyes and remember all you have to be grateful for and then smile.

I wish you a safe, relaxing and joyful holiday season. May the year ahead bring you much abundance and prosperity in every aspect of your life!

Thunder Bay Vacation Rentals

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Thunder Bay is one of the more beautiful protected areas along Lake Huron. To enjoy the area, you need to find a Thunder Bay vacation rental. Fortunately, there are some excellent choices.

Thunder Bay Vacation Rentals

Thunder Bay is in an area that encompasses part of northern Michigan, called the Sunrise Side. Situated on Lake Huron, this area is known for its wilderness atmosphere and the small islands that dot the area. The Michigan Islands National Wildlife Refuge protects many of these islands.

Also located here is the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Wildlife Preserve. This preserve, close to the Thunder Bay lodgings in the area, is a great spot for a family vacation. While here, you can visit the Maritime Heritage Center, which houses much information about Thunder Bay and Lake Huron’s boating history. Thunder Bay is also a great area for fishing and taking picturesque hikes. Make sure to follow all the wildlife sanctuary rules, and you’ll have a great time.

Of course, when you are in Thunder Bay, you will need a place to stay. If you are in need of a Thunder Bay rental that is secluded and private, look no further than Hillman, Michigan. Thunder Bay Golf and RV is the spot in this area. This vacation destination is a haven for golfers, as there is a golf course right in the resort, as well as four others located nearby. Thunder Bay isn’t all about golf and related pursuits because you can go on rides to search for hunt and elk. Available for those who enjoy more time indoors is a quilter’s retreat, which lasts four days and three nights, and includes workshops, teaching seminars and demonstrations of the quilting craft. Spa treatments can be added to your quilting package, or any other stay here, making it a great place for some rest and relaxation.

The biggest town/city on Thunder Bay is Alpena, Michigan. If you choose to stay in Alpena, you have the advantage of being located near a town, yet still far enough away from city life. One destination worth taking a look at is the Big Bear Lodge on US Route 23 in Alpena. This lodge has the authentic feel of a northern Midwest cabin, but is also close enough to Thunder Bay that you can walk to the beach! Big Bear Lodge offers remodeled rooms, a continental breakfast and optional tours to make your stay here relaxing and full of fun.

No matter which Thunder Bay vacation rental you choose, you will be sure to have a wilderness filled, relaxing and family oriented good time!

Hotels In India

Friday, December 26th, 2008

With India being a major world tourist in the world, availability of hotels is not such a problem. However, every tourist in India, local or foreign, would do well to plan his trip in advance to enable him to find a hotel that most suits his needs.

There are a number of questions to be answered before finding the right choice of hotel for your India trip: What are your individual interests and inclinations? Are you looking for a relaxed holiday in India, maybe on a beach or hill station where you can recharge your batteries? Or is your holiday incomplete without the adrenaline that accompanies rushing off cliffs and plunging into raging torrents? Are creature comforts of the hotel paramount to you or do you dig the seclusion of a log cabin in the woods, with all the hardships that it entails? Again, are you one who falls for five star glitters or is an elegant hotel with old world charm more to your taste.

An important consideration while choosing your hotel is budget. Are you prepared to spend a premium for style to match or are you ‘doing’ India on a shoestring?

While planning your India trip, consider where your hotel will be situated. As they say, it’s all about “location, location location.” For instance, if you have specific interest in India, say a wildlife reserve, it makes sense to stay as close as possible to it rather than book a hotel at a distance and spend time and energy commuting. Again, does your itinerary demand a central location or would you prefer a hotel in a choice setting with fabulous views?

These are some of the hotel options that might be available to you in India.

Five Star Hotels in India: Often owned by prestigious names in the Indian Hotel industry such as the Taj or Oberoi, these offer the ultimate in terms of comfort and excellence in service. While most of the important chains do have hotels in major Indian destinations, hospitality here does come at a price.

Heritage Hotels in India: These were originally former palaces or mansions belonging to India’s erstwhile princes or nobility that have now been converted into hotels. For a price, tourists can experience a slice of the history and romance of India’s former royalty. Rajasthan, Mysore, Hyderabad are some of the Indian states where heritage hotels are located.

Eco friendly Hotels in India: These hotels offer you a close communion with nature during your stay. Most of them are located in scenic locations, around forest reserves, hill stations or ecologically sensitive zones. While many such hotels in India are committed to the preservation of natural resources, with others it is often just a sales gimmick.

Wellenss Centres or Spas in India: India being home to the holistic science of Ayurveda, these hotels provide you with massages, detoxification and fitness routines to rejuvenate the body and soul. Kerala, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Rishikesh and Rajasthan are some of the places where these are found.

Budget Hotels in India: While many budget hotels do offer decent accommodation and excellent food, the same cannot be said for all. Again while some have pleasant surroundings set in plum locales others maybe no more than congested hotels.

How To Find Cheap Airfare.

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Air travel is no longer considered a luxury only available for the wealthy and is now almost essential to our way of life. Instead of driving hundreds of miles to visit friends and family, attend a business meeting, or enjoy a vacation hotspot, a flight can whittle your travel time to a couple of hours instead of a couple of days. Also, more and more individuals are seeking to explore all corners of the world where car travel is prohibited. Although air travel is a great deal less expensive today than in days past, everyone is always looking the best deals available. If you are in the market to find cheap airfare, consider your options before you buy the first ticket available.

In days past, the only way to buy an airline ticket was to either visit your local travel agent or purchase the ticket directly from the airline. The introduction of the World Wide Web rocked the airline industry, as well as the job stability of the travel agent, as individuals were able to book their own flights. Today, there are countless websites devoted to finding the cheapest flights possible, including favorites like Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, and Priceline. Additionally, all airlines have websites devoted to their fares and deals, which may beat the fares offered at the alternative sites.

When it comes to finding cheap airfare, consider the options, including time of travel, destination, origination, airport selection, and travel dates. If you have the luxury of a flexible schedule, consider traveling during the off season. Typically, flights around holidays, early spring when schools are on spring break, and the summer are more expensive than the other times. A good rule of thumb is that air travel is cheaper when children are in school. Often, airlines offer sales and special rates that end in late May and begin again at the end of August.

However, not everyone has the luxury of flying in these off seasons, so the next variable is the destination and origination. Depending on your location, you may want to look at several different airports in your area. Since different airlines use different airports as their hubs or regional operating areas, the airport of origination plays a large part in the final fee you pay. The same theory goes with the destination. Choose larger airports instead of smaller ones, since adding a commuter flight to your bill can greatly inflate the price.

Finally, look to the specific dates of travel. For most destinations, the prices for flights on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday are less expensive than those leaving on the other days of the week. Also, ensuring you spend at least one weekend at the destination–known as a Saturday layover–can bring the price of the ticket down dramatically. Most websites offer flexible searches, which allow you to focus on the price of the ticket instead of the schedule of the flight.

When it comes to purchasing the actual ticket, using an Internet-based company is usually the best way to go. If you are in need of a rental car or hotel room, consider purchasing a package. Unlike traditional tours, packages include only hotels, rental cars, or both along with an airline flight, making it perfect for individuals who still want to travel on their own but save money in the process. Also, when searching for flights or packages, look to the airline’s websites in addition to the afore-mentioned websites. In many instances, purchasing a flight directly off an airline’s website can be cheaper. Additionally, many airlines run frequent flyer bonuses with online purchases, so you can earn the maximum miles for your flight.

One great way to get the cheapest airfare is to enroll in frequent flyer programs. Even if you do not intend to fly a great deal, these programs include other ways to earn, including popular online purposes, hotel stays, and car rentals. Furthermore, most airlines have associated credit cards that allow you to earn miles with each and every purchase.
