Fishing for carp is a rather rewarding hobby because carp are rather smart and often suspicious of anything put in front of them. Nonetheless, with a bit of guile, you can entice the fish and trick them into being hooked. What follows are just a few useful tips to serve you when carp fishing:-

Take boilies based on fishmeal in the finer weather (summer and autumn), and dabble with half-half combinations or birdfood bait during the winter and spring

Add a lot of salt to particle baits, especially the cooked types like maize, hemp, tares, partiblend seeds, beans, maple peas and chick peas. The carp enjoy salty foods. Approximately, mix a single tablespoon of salt to 5 litres of dry particles. These are also cost-effective and will save you money on baits!

When the water is cold such as in the winter, experiment with throwing your fishing rigs more frequently, and pinpoint different areas so you can set a hook bait close to the carp. Cold water makes the carp move slower therefore there’s a lesser opportunity for the carp to swim towards your bait. In the warmer months, you can position traps in possible patrolling areas and wait for the carp to find the bait.

If you are nervous about supplying too much food to the “swim”, then use breadcrumb groundbait with only the attractants added, but without all the particle baits included. This tempts the fish without filling them up.

Lastly, make sure you have the right fishing gear with you. Research what you should bring online. You can find all kinds of things online, such as carp rod pods – and ensure you enjoy the time you spend by the river!
